Statement of Faith #1 – We Are Spiritual
I have noticed that many ministries and Christian websites publish a “Statement of Faith” to signify where they believe in, based upon scripture. Since I have started a blog to share my writing on the Internet, I thought it would be a good idea to do the same. This is my first “Statement of Faith” item.
The Bible expresses in many passages that our true nature is spiritual. We are spiritual. The flesh doesn’t define us. It is our Spirit, which is the essence of our being. And being a Christian means that you renounce your worldly nature. You then remember your own spiritual nature and share this with everyone.
Here are some examples of Biblical references to our spiritual nature.
“Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods” ’?”
(John 10:34, NKJV)
“I said, “You are gods, And all of you are children of the Most High.”
(Psalm 82:6, NKJV)
Please don’t think it is arrogance to say this. It just means that you accept yourself as our God created you to be. It means accepting the Truth about yourself. You turn away from a worldly definition of yourself, and instead, accept that you are, in essence, a Spiritual Being, just like your Father, Who created you.
I am spiritual. You are spiritual. We are spiritual. And the “Christian journey” or the spiritual path of Christians is to fully come to this recognition. To not focus on the “he that is in this world” but on the “He that is greater than he who is in this world.” To open up to Divine Grace, to show us that this is true. That is where our true, lasting happiness lies.
“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
(1 John 4:4, NKJV)
